Syntropic Solutions, a leader in agroforestry systems, securing over $250K in R&D grants. Paving the way for sustained growth with CFO support.
Syntropic Solutions stands as a leading firm specializing in the design, development, and maintenance of Agroforestry Systems. Our mission is to foster ecological resilience, ensure climate stability, and promote economic prosperity through the implementation of Syntropic Agroforestry Systems. With expertise in sustainable food production and ecosystem regeneration, Syntropic Solutions has successfully executed over 100 projects globally, ranging from suburban backyards to large-scale farms.
During the pandemic, Syntropic Solutions experienced unprecedented growth. As people migrated from cities to rural areas, they redirected their focus towards gardening and food production. Responding swiftly, Syntropic Solutions initiated multiple projects across the Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Northern Rivers, and mid-Coast. Major corporations like Mars also expressed interest in piloting cacao growing projects in Cairns, contributing to extensive data collection for the development of software technology aimed at enhancing the design, implementation, and maintenance of agroforestry systems.
“It is costly to undertake R&D projects when the business is profitable. But when things change, having government incentives to help with this becomes invaluable. ”
However, as the pandemic waned, sales declined sharply within six months, creating significant cash flow challenges. Tiago found himself seeking assistance to address the situation.
Tiago, the founder of Syntropic Solutions, had met Bertrand from Miracle Mint two years earlier during an education workshop. Bertrand, upon hearing Tiago's story and learning about his partnerships with Curtin University in R&D and software development, introduced Tiago to the R&D tax incentive. With the aid of a partner recommended by Bertrand, Tiago swiftly secured over $100K in funding.
Continuing his support, Bertrand led sales and marketing efforts, implemented performance analytics reporting, and advocated for a reconfiguration of the sales team structure. Joining Syntropic Solutions' board of advisors, Bertrand participated in collaborative discussions that led to the development and execution of a new product offering. This initiative, supported by detailed financial models and enhanced sales strategies, facilitated the closure of significant projects.
Recognizing the necessity to diversify product offerings and streamline internal processes, Syntropic Solutions embarked on a journey to enhance its operational structure. Miracle Mint extended its support to primary producers, constructing Internal Rate of Return (IRR) models to provide financial insights and operational strategies, thereby broadening Syntropic Solutions' reach and resilience in a dynamic market environment.
Understanding the prolonged sales cycle inherent in engaging new primary producers, the team emphasized the necessity for offerings with swift sales cycles to address immediate cash flow needs. To tackle this, Miracle Mint supported with analyzing the global landscape of impact software technology and devised a strategy targeting Australian property owners interested in backyard edibles. He delivered a comprehensive strategy deck along with a wireframe outlining the approach.
Guided by Miracle Mint, Syntropic Solutions honed its go-to-market leadership and strategy, optimizing the pipeline and funnel for enhanced sales efficiency while concurrently restructuring the company during periods of financial loss. This strategic repositioning significantly enhanced overall resilience.
“MiracleMint is a true ally in our business journey - providing invaluable support with cash flow, planning, strategy, systems and processes.”
Following this phase, Miracle Mint assumed a less active role, empowering Syntropic Solutions to implement strategies independently. Nevertheless, Miracle Mint continued to provide support by facilitating another R&D tax incentive claim, resulting in an additional $100K cash flow to support the team's development plans.
Over two financial years, Syntropic Solutions received over $250K in R&D cash rebates. The support provided helped steer up diversification of new products, structure around of the products and processes, and enhance financial resilience.
